Washington, Aug 6, 2008 -

U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Representative John Boozman (AR-03) today announced nearly half a million dollars in funds to improve the Mountainburg water system.

"These federal dollars will help provide critical water improvements for the people of Mountainburg," said Lincoln. "I commend local leaders for working to secure this significant Rural Development investment."

“A clean, reliable source of water is essential for the health and well-being of Mountainburg residents,” said Pryor. “In addition, this investment will foster economic development and benefit the wider community.”

“It’s important that we continue to improve infrastructures to provide citizens with a reliable and dependable quality of drinking water,” Boozman said. “I am pleased Mountainburg officials have taken a proactive approach in making sure its residents get this basic need.

Rural Development secured $428,000 in loans for the project. This funding will allow Mountainburg to extend its existing water system to serve 357 new users who currently use wells for their source of water.
