Lincoln, Pryor, Boozman announce funds for XNA
Washington,
May 6, 2008 -
U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative John Boozman today announced that Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport will receive a $654,089 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The money will be used to expand the existing Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting building to accommodate required safety equipment.
“Northwest Arkansas continues to see increased air travel for business and leisure,” said U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln. “This funding will help ensure the safety of every air passenger who travels through Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, providing airport staff with the equipment they need to effectively respond to emergencies.”
“These funds will significantly improve the fire and rescue efforts of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport Authority,” said Pryor. “It is a good example of how federal dollars can be reinvested into the local community.”
“This is a great success for the airport,” Boozman said. “In the ten years since passengers first started boarding planes at XNA, there have been many additions to the airport. This is one that shows travelers in Northwest Arkansas that their safety is top priority.”
