Boozman pleased with U.S. Judge confirmation
Washington,
Apr 11, 2008 -
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) congratulates Judge Brian Miller of Helena on his confirmation as U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
“I’m pleased to learn of his confirmation to the court,” Boozman said. “Brain’s continued commitment to uphold the laws of this country is top notch. He’s distinguished himself in the Arkansas legal community and will be a strong voice on the bench in Little Rock.”
Senators voted Thursday 88-0 confirming the nomination of Mr. Miller. Rep. Boozman nominated Mr. Miller in June 2007, with five other candidates, to fill the vacancy created by the April 21, 2007 death of long-time District Judge George Howard, Jr.
In February, Mr. Miller testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“Senator Lincoln and Senator Pryor have been supportive of the nomination and I thank them for helping fill this important position.”
Mr. Miller served as a member of Committee on Criminal Practice for the Supreme Court of Arkansas. Previously, he served for 11 years in the firm of Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston, rising to Senior Associate. Additionally, he served as the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Phillips County from 2000-2006. He received an Associates Degree from Phillips Community College in 1991, graduated in 1992 from the University of Central Arkansas, and received his law degree from Vanderbilt in 1995.
