Congressional Youth Art Contest
Washington,
Mar 4, 2008 -
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) announced details of the Artistic Discovery High School Art Contest. The annual congressional art competition brings together the best student artwork from across the Third District. The winning entry will be hung along with entries from other congressional districts in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol. The winner will be eligible to compete for a $5,000 scholarship per year to the Savannah College of Art and Design.
To qualify for the competition public and private high schools in Arkansas' Third Congressional District are invited to submit artwork to represent the school in this competition. The selection process for that artwork is completely at the discretion of school officials. Local schools will be mailed a packet with the complete rules, deadline and an entry form. It is highly recommended that the high school art teacher deliver the student entries to the office of Congressman Boozman with the student release form attached to each entry.
Home school students are encouraged to enter their artwork directly to the office of Congressman John Boozman. All entries must comply with contest rules and guideline, available upon request.
Entries need to arrive at the Congressman's Lowell office on or before noon, Friday, May 2, 2008. The winner will be invited to meet with Congressman Boozman at a later date for an awards presentation. The winner will also be invited to attend the opening exhibit in Washington D.C. on June 25, 2008 with other winners from across the country.
For more information on art competition eligibility, contact Kathryn Gough in Boozman's Northwest Arkansas office in Lowell at (479) 725-0400.
