Washington, Sep 14, 2006 - WASHINGTON – Representative John Boozman (R-AR) met with Mr. Stephen Crabb, MP (Conservative - Preseli Pembrokeshire) as part of a British-American Parliamentary Group (BAPG) exchange sponsored by the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

Boozman, Vice-Chariman of the BAPG, met with Crabb after completing morning legislative business. Crabb attended a full-committee meeting of the House International Relations Committee, of which Boozman is a member, to observe a hearing on Japanese relations with neighboring countries.

Mr. Crabb then observed House debate on H.R. 6061 – the Secure Fence Act of 2006. Rep. Boozman guided debate as Speaker Pro Tempore.

“It is a great honor to host Mr. Crabb on this visit as part of the BAPG. The United Kingdom is one of America’s staunchest allies and I strongly support any efforts to increase the level of our already special relationship.

“Mr. Crabb and I share similar interests in employment, transportation and trade,” Boozman added. “Additionally, we share a similar outlook at focusing on the best interests of our constituents, whether it is the Third District of Arkansas, or Wales.”

“It is an enormous privilege to visit Washington, D.C., as part of the BAPG,” Crabb said. “Our constituencies are quite similar in many respects, including significant farming communities.

Crabb will also travel to Arkansas with Boozman to take part in weekend events in the Third District, which includes participation in the Benton County Fair Parade.

“I am looking forward very much to my visit to Arkansas and my first opportunity to visit rural America,” Cobb added. “I am also looking forward to find out more about the issues Rep. Boozman is working on for the people of the Third District.

“I am proud to be able to bring Mr. Crabb to The Natural State during this time of the year,” Boozman said. “I know he will enjoy visiting with Arkansans, and enjoy the type of hospitality you can only get here. I also know the people of the Third District will enjoy meeting Mr. Crabb.”
