Washington, Oct 3, 2008 -

U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Representative John Boozman (AR-03) today announced nearly 12 million dollars in funds for the construction of a new Stepping Stone School. Stepping Stone provides comprehensive services to developmentally disabled individuals, including vocational and job programs for developmentally disabled adults.

“These funds will enable Stepping Stone School to better meet the needs of its clients. I’m pleased to see the federal government supporting Arkansans, and I’ll continue to do all I can to ensure our state receives funding to create and improve education and employment opportunities,” said Lincoln.

“For over 30 years Stepping Stone has stood out as a model organization of education and service,” said Pryor.  “Their comprehensive programs have touched hundreds of lives and benefited the local economy in numerous ways.  I’m pleased these well-deserved funds will allow them to expand their facilities in Arkansas and continue their vital mission.”

“This is vital for providing the necessary education and employment opportunities all Americans deserve,” Boozman said. “We are truly blessed by the services Stepping Stone provides and I’m happy to have a part in securing this funding that will benefit future Arkansans.”

USDA Rural Development secured $11, 710,000 in loans for the project.
