U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor along with U.S. Representative John Boozman (AR-03) today announced that the Bethel Heights Fire Department is the recipient a $15,722 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.

“As first responders, our local firefighters play an integral role in keeping our communities safe,” Lincoln said. “These federal dollars will allow the Bethel Heights Fire Department to continue to provide the best possible service.”

“Bethel Heights firefighters keep us safe by putting their lives on the line each and every day,” said Pryor. “This grant will help ensure that they have the equipment and training they need in order to continue their excellent work.”

“This funding plays an important role to the protection of our firefighters,” Boozman said. “We must provide the best equipment and training to keep the communities and citizens of the Third District safe.”

The Bethel Heights Fire Department will use the grant to improve its operations and safety. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is intended to strengthen the country’s overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire and fire-related hazards.
