Before visiting a foreign country, you should ensure that all your travel concerns are addressed.
Please be aware that new passport rules have recently gone into effect. Adults flying to Canada and Mexico now need a passport for travel. To learn more about the updated passport rules, please visit the U.S. State Department’s travel website at http://travel.state.gov. For frequently asked questions about the new passport rules, click HERE.
NOTICE: If you are considering a trip out of the country and need a passport, please allow 9 to 10 weeks for your application to be processed. Even expedited passport applications will take 3 to 4 week to process.
The U.S. State Department has issued the following guidelines for travel:
- As of June 1, 2009, the U.S. will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of the Western Hemisphere Transportation Initiative (WHTI) that requires all citizens entering the country at sea or land ports to have the proper documentation as approved by the Department of Homeland Security.
Here are a few of the most common questions my office receives that deal with passports:
How can I renew my existing passport?
I can't wait for the normal six week processing time for my application. Can I expedite my request?
